Thoughts from a God fearing TCK struggling with mental illnesses- Aneurin Howorth

Lane Miller

The work I am entering is a marker/coloured pencil drawing on paper, illustrating a body in which different plants are rooted. The plants originate from the places I spent my childhood; their needs for nutrient-rich soil, rainfall, and sunlight, vary, but they are all a part of this silhouette. I wanted them to signify clashing and complementary aspects of identity, but I also hoped to depict a blend uncommon in most environments. Holding water, the figure is somewhat equipped to be support itself, but whether it can belong in its new place is a question still being worked through.
